A Zynq-Based Flexible ADC Architecture Combining Real-Time Data Streaming and Transient Recording

The RFX-mod2 Nuclear Fusion experiment is an upgrade of RFX-mod, which was shutdown in 2016. Among the other improvements machine structure and diagnostics, a larger number electromagnetic probes (EMs) foreseen to provide more information about plasma instabilities allow improved real-time control. An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architecture able provide, at same time, both transient recording streaming, as well field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based time integration inputs, RFX-mod2. Transient provides full-speed data acquisition (up 1 MSample/s) by local memory reading content after discharge.
